Sexual Behaviours
Sexual Behaviours Therapy & Treatment
A restorative, non-judgmental approach to healing, accountability, and meaningful change.
At Dana Rourke Counselling and Consulting, we provide online therapy across Ontario for individuals impacted by sexual harm and unethical or addictive sexual behaviours. Our work is grounded in a survivor-centric, values-based, restorative approach, focused on understanding, accountability, and healing — without judgment.
Sexual harm and pornography addiction are complex experiences that affect individuals, relationships, and communities in deep, lasting, and different ways. Whether you are seeking support as someone who has caused harm, as someone who is concerned or unsure about their behaviours, or are someone impacted by another’s actions (family, friends, professional supports), therapy can provide a confidential space for clarity, understanding, and healing that makes a difference.
We understand that shame, fear, and embarrassment can be barriers to accessing support - we are here to help. We do this work as a commitment to making communities a safer place for all of us, and because we believe with the right support we can all change.
We Support Adults Who Struggle With:
Self-identified unethical or harmful sexual behaviours
Boundary violations and questions about consent
Concerns or curiosities about past or current behaviour
Patterns that feel out of control or misaligned with personal values
Pornography addiction/overuse
Compulsive or addictive sexual behaviours
Legally-involved individuals
Are in relationship with those who are struggling with the above
Our Approach
We take a restorative, trauma-focused, and needs-based approach; our work is not focused on labels or punishment, but on healing and safety. This means:
Meeting you where you’re at
Honouring your unique experiences and impacts of harm and behaviours
Exploring underlying patterns and contributing factors
Supporting accountability and responsibility
Creating sustainable, meaningful behavioural change
Addressing trauma/wounds and conditioning
Developing safety, trust, and connection in relationships (oneself, others, and the world)
Honouring the needs that harm created
Understanding what has led you to this moment can be liberating and empower change.
Areas of Focus in Therapy
We provide a non-judgmental and accountable space rooted in evidence-informed practice, and strengths-based treatment for individuals who want to better understand and change their behaviour, take meaningful responsibility, and build safer, more honest, and aligned ways of living and relating.
We believe therapy and treatment are not about “fixing” a single issue, but instead are about addressing a constellation of risk factors, beliefs, and gaps in knowledge and skills that contribute to harmful or unethical behaviour, while strengthening protective capacities.
To minimize future risk with education and supported healing, therapy seeks to address the underlying drivers of behaviour.

Frequently Asked Questions
-
Alignment and connection are very important in the therapeutic relationship and we know how frustrating it can be working along side someone that you don't feel you can connect with. For anyone looking to explore therapy with us, we offer a complimentary 20-minute alignment call (virtual or phone). This gives us a chance to explore your needs and concerns around therapy and for you to get a sense of who we are and what approach we take.
-
Currently we are only taking on new clients for virtual services. This means that you get to access treatment from wherever you are in Ontario, and from the comfort and privacy of your own space. All we ask is that you be ready to appear on camera.
-
Yes, the very nature of therapy is to provide a space for you to be able to safely share vulnerable information. This information is protected by therapist-client confidentiality. This means that your therapist will not share any details of your sessions with anyone else, unless they have your written consent. There are however, exceptions to confidentiality as dictated by the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers, of which I belong. Exceptions are as follows:
-if you are at risk of harming yourself or another (suicide or assault) supports will be called to address safety
-if you disclose past abuse by a professional who works for a legislated body, this may need to be reported
-if you were abused in childhood by someone who may still be a danger to children, this may need to be reported to Family and Children Services
-if you provide information that leads us to believe that a child (under 16 years of age) is at risk of abuse (physical, sexual, emotional), neglect, or exposure to violence, all therapists have an obligation to report this to Family and Children Services.
-if a court orders the release of information/files for legal proceedings
It is our commitment to all of our clients to work with their support systems and circles of care - it takes a village. If you would like information shared with anyone to assist with your recovery or care, written consent will be obtained before any information is offered.
-
We do not provide crisis support or between session support. We do however help you to develop a network of support programs and people to be there for you when needed.

Yes. Letters and reports are written for the courts by your clinician to confirm participation in treatment, provide details on progress, and convey any barriers to recovery and ways to address them.
Fees for letters are billed at the clinicians hourly rate and pre-payment is required.
